4th Barum International Piano Competition

Eligibility

1. The fourth Barum International Piano Competition will take place at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB.
2. ​It is open to pianists of all ages with a free choice of repertoire.

Rules

1. The application deadline will be October 20, 2024.

3. The age of the applicants will be determined by the application due date (November 1, 2024).  Please attach the proof of age when you apply (birth certificate, driver's license, passport, etc.).  The files will be deleted after age verification.
4. Application fee per application is $80 for the competition. The application fee is non-refundable.​
5. There are two divisions: Festival and Professional Levels. All Festival Level applicants will receive certificate of participation and comments. Professional Level division is designed for highly competitive students with many years of musical experiences.

Awards (for Professional level entries only)

1. Barum Foundation Award: Each Age Category's 1st place winner will receive $100 in cash prize.  
2. RnH Foundation Award: Each Division's Excellent Performance Prize winner will receive $100 in cash prize.
3. Yamaha-Hanmi Piano Award: Five performers from the entire competition will be selected for special prize of Yamaha P125 keyboard (retail value $700/each).  All prize winners will also be eligible for a special scholarship at Hanmi Piano, Yamaha Authorized dealer.  Details will be announced with the winners announcement. 
4. Amici International Music Festival Award: 1st place ($400) scholarship, 2nd place ($250) scholarship, 3rd place ($150) scholarship towards Festival participation in 2025. 

Awards (for Festival level entries)

1. All participants will be awarded certificates of achievement.

Repertoire

1. Please choose your repertoire carefully BEFORE you submit your application.  ​Once accepted, no repertoire changes will be allowed. 
2. Free selection of one piece is required. 
3. Piece must be performed by memory.
4. All decisions by the jury will be final.
5. 1st/2nd/3rd prizes will be awarded per category at judges' discretion.
6. Special Awards will be given to the selected winners.
