Dr. Eva Schaumkell

Dr. Eva Schaumkell is established on three continents as a brilliant soloist and collaborator
praised for her “astonishing combination of depth of expression and thrilling virtuosity afforded to only a few” by the Nassauische Neue Presse. Dr. Schaumkell garnered international acclaim after winning Gold Medals in five competitions including the International James Ramos, International Siegfried Weishaupt, Coeur d’Alene, Thürmer, and Jugend Musiziert competitions. She is a recipient of the Carl Maria von Weber Scholarship, the Deutschlandstipendium, and the Drosihn Prize.
A charismatic soloist, Schaumkell’s career has led to invitations from Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Steinway Hall London, Buckingham Palace, City of London Festival, ISAM Festival in Germany, London Spring Sinfonia, MusicAlp Festival in France, and
the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. An active chamber musician, Schaumkell has appeared three times on Le Salon de Musiques at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles and tours as the Vieness Piano Duo with her husband and pianist, Vijay Venkatesh.
Recent and upcoming highlights include performances with the New West Symphony, South Coast Symphony, Vicente Chamber Orchestra, Northern Neck Orchestra Chamberfest in Virginia, a 15-concert tour of the Midwest with Allied Concert Services, Classical Movements Virginia, Music Guild of Los Angeles, Da Camera Society Los Angeles, InConcert Series Colorado, Trinity Concert Series New York, L’ermitage Foundation Los Angeles, Ocean Grove Summer Stars Festival New Jersey, SOKA Performing Arts Center, Sarasota Artist Series Florida, Camerata Musica Series Washington, and Kultur unter'm Dach in Germany.
Dr. Schaumkell earned her Doctorate with distinction under the guidance of Daniel Pollack at the USC Thornton School of Music. She also holds degrees from the Hochschule für Musik Dresden and the Guildhall School in London. She is in high demand internationally as an Artist Teacher, and frequently gives masterclasses, adjudicates competitions, and appears for Artist Residencies at universities and conservatories across the US.
In addition to her performance activities, Dr. Schaumkell holds faculty positions as Associate
Professor for Piano at Irvine Valley College and Riverside City College. She also runs a private
teaching studio in Pasadena and coaches chamber music groups for Junior Chamber Music.
